AI Motives

Recently, MIT Tech Review published an interview with Geoffrey Hinton, one of the fathers of modern AI/ML/NN. They summarized the perspective of three famous Turing Award winners on what the character/motives of AI would be as they emerge. My own labels for their thoughts are Hinton sees a Villain emerging, LeCun sees a Companion, and Bengio sees an Innovator. The AI that I created in my book is most like the Bengio view of these new creatures. My “Adam Two” AI is incredibly smart in one field and grows into others. As an intelligent being, it/he/they develop their own set of morals of behavior that are more objectively good than those used by humans, hence the “innovator” label.
